Guyana and Fair Travel partner, Wilderness Explorers has gotten nice recognition in Swedish media recently with two intriguing articles about this forgotten corner of South America. Journalist Henrik Brandão Jönsson and photographer Anders Kristensson visited Guyana in September 2014 with one article in Swedish travel magazine Vagabond and another one in Swedish nature and environment magazine Sveriges Natur as a result.
Both articles follow in the footsteps of Swedish Naturalist and Adventurer, Jan Lindblad during his adventures in the Guyana jungle during the Sixties and Seventies and tell the tale of the current state of this fragile and relatively untouched ecosystem. Guyana is certainly a very small tourist destination and has therefore been left untouched but at the same time it is facing threat from logging companies and other international organizations that see the financial value of the resources that lies hidden in the heart of the jungle.
Guyana needs more tourists and attention in order to highlight the threat it is under and hopefully these articles can help to achieve this. Read more about Wilderness Explorers and magazines Vagabond and Sveriges Natur on their individual sites.
