Press Release on Sustainable Tourism Management

July 3, 2015 By Jeppe Leave a Comment

Sustainable Tourism Management - A unique initiative provides competitive advantages for travel and tourism companies.

“Unique initiative provides competitive advantages for travel and tourism companies”

This distance-learning program is free of charge and caters for active tourism professionals seeking supplemental skills and knowledge on how sustainable tourism products and services can unite environ-mental awareness with both higher customer satisfaction and increased profitability. The program is developed by specialists within the industry and is aimed at marketing managers, sales managers, product managers, and CEO’s of companies within the tourism, travel and hospitality sector of Sweden.

  • Customized by the industry for the industry with the latest updates and material in sustainable tourism
  • Seminar oriented and action focused education applicable to the business
  • Focused on service and product development, highlighting attractive experiences and profitability with sustainability as the foundation
  • The program is free of charge with physical meetings once a month which limits absence from work and enable time to apply theory into practice

Some comments about the initiative:

“Few in our industry know how we can best work with sustainability. To have only a few who understand and possess the skills isn’t enough. Knowledge needs to be spread and we need to know more, with the expertise on sustainability on several positions within the companies in order for development to take off.” Farhad Kakavand, Business Manager – Svenska Mässan/TUR

“As tourists keeps increasing around the world, grows the awareness of responsibility. Due to a general lack of knowledge, sustainability seldom reaches the boardrooms and strategic business plans. It requires knowledge and courage to begin to act, hence the need for this program.” Camilla Zedendahl, Managing Director – Destination Sigtuna

“Companies that do not integrate sustainability into its business model have no view on long-term value creation and will therefore not attract the talented workforce either.” Fredrik Lindblom, Sustainable Development Manager – TUI Nordic

“Working with sustainability is no longer optional. It is something we all have to do. But to do it in the best way – smart and resource-efficient – it requires knowledge of both the industry itself and sustainability. This program meets a huge demand, which actually the whole planet is crying for.” Caroline Strindmar, Sustainability Manager – Yasuragi

“Awareness and questions related to sustainable travel is constantly increasing among our members. An education like this is exactly what we require here and now.” Lilian Brunell, Manager – Association of Swedish Travel Agents and Tour Operators

“Increased requirements and the demand for sustainability is a fact, but without the expertise and coopera-tion we stand little chance to achieve our aim. Knowledge of sustainability is inadequate and therefore the need for skills enhancement is required. We work together with the industry and educate for change!” Jeppe Klockareson, Owner & Founder – Fair Travel

Press Release on Sustainable Tourism Management

June 17, 2015 By Jeppe Leave a Comment

Jeppe Klockareson, Owner & Founder – Fair Travel

BarCamp 24-25 september

June 17, 2015 By Jeppe Leave a Comment

Fair Travel interviewed at ITB 2014

March 28, 2014 By Jeppe Leave a Comment

ITB-Berlin-2014-interviewJeppe Klockareson was interviewed by Travel Report during the ITB Berlin travel fair, reflecting on the content and development of travel fairs.

The interview highlight the impressive seminar program with current trends and sustainability on the agenda together with the ever-growing Responsible Tourism Networking event and the newly National Geographic Traveler established World Legacy Award on sustainability.

This was the fifth year in a row, visiting the travel fair in Berlin, where the most thrilling part is to see the #RTNet event continue to grow in size and popularity, with about 200 participants attending the event, where the new web portal was launched, aiming to move away from Facebook to the new site.

Another interesting fact from the seminar was presented by travel writer Doug Lansky, talking about a recent survey done by TripAdvisor, claiming that 69 % of their travelers wants to support sustainable tourism, while the same survey indicate that 75 % of the travellers don’t know what sustainable tourism is.
